I let my self-hosted WordPress blog site sit unattended too long. It became frail in my absence, as did my memory of how to manage it. The recent WordPress update failed, probably because PHP was not up to date. It was on a shared-hosting platform, so my options were somewhat limited. I could wade through trying to update all the stuff, but I don’t fully control the server. Not enough time and energy for that, given this blog does not pay the bills (it doesn’t even kick in a dime).
The Blue Cog Blog is now hosted on WordPress.com. Managing the underlying infrastructure is off my plate, but now I have to learn to use the platform (again). This blog will probably change a bit as I fiddle with Themes and Widgets in my (mythical) spare time. If I can get that settled, maybe I can get into a cadence of writing.
